Popular Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has landed in deep financial trouble once again as his legal and monetary woes continue to mount. In a major crackdown to a long-standing loan default and cheque bounce case, the Central Bank of India has initiated strict recovery proceedings against the actor. Two major properties owned by the actor and his family in his hometown Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, have been officially marked for a high-stakes online auction scheduled for September 9. The aggressive step comes as the actor failed to clear massive outstanding dues running into crores, drawing widespread attention from fans, legal circles, and financial institutions alike.

Massive Loan Default Linked to Film Production ‘Aata Pata Lapata’

According to official bank records and notices pasted at the sites, the financial dispute stems from a heavy commercial loan that Rajpal Yadav borrowed from the Central Bank of India, Mumbai branch. The funds were reportedly utilized for the production and distribution of his directorial venture, the film “Aata Pata Lapata.” However, due to poor commercial performance and subsequent failure to repay the borrowed amount, the debt accumulated drastically over the years. Including accumulated interest and penalties, the total outstanding dues owed by the actor to the bank currently stand at a staggering ₹16 crore 61 lakh 64 thousand.

Bank Pastes Official Auction Notices on Shahjahanpur Properties

To recover a portion of the colossal default amount, the financial institution has taken formal physical possession of the mortgaged assets. Bank officials recently arrived in Shahjahanpur and pasted official auction notices directly on the properties located within the city as well as the ancestral farm and house in the village. Notably, these properties were registered under the names of his wife, Radha Yadav, and mother, Godavari Yadav, who acted as guarantors for the commercial loan facility. While the total debt exceeds ₹16 crore, the bank has collectively fixed the reserve auction price for both Shahjahanpur properties at ₹3 crore 19 lakh 26 thousand. The formal online auction process will officially execute on September 9, while discussions regarding parallel recovery actions against his assets in Mumbai are also gaining momentum.

A History of Legal Battles and Previous Jail Sentences

This unfortunate development is only the latest chapter in a series of severe legal and financial controversies for the versatile comedian. Rajpal Yadav has previously faced prison time in connection with financial disputes and cheque dishonor cases, having spent a notable period lodged inside Delhi’s Tihar Jail. Legal troubles for the actor began when a trial court first sentenced him, a ruling that was later upheld by the Delhi High Court during protracted litigation. Although he was granted temporary relief and bail after depositing substantial installments, the mounting liabilities and failure to reach a complete settlement have forced lenders to take ultimate legal measures. With bank officials confirming that the auction will proceed strictly according to banking regulations on the scheduled date, the pressure continues to intensify on the acclaimed actor.
