New Delhi, 06 August 2026: Greater Noida. More than 100 people have fallen ill due to contaminated Ganga water supply in the ‘Nirala Green Arch’ society of Greater Noida West.
Residents claim that the presence of bacteria in the water has been confirmed through testing, causing panic among 1640 families living in 11 towers of the society. They have accused AOA and Greater Noida Authority of negligence.
Complaints are constantly being received.
Residents of the society say that for the last two months, there have been complaints about the quality of the ‘Gangajal’ water supply. Over the past week, complaints of vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain and fever have started appearing continuously on the society’s WhatsApp groups.
Meanwhile, as the situation worsened, the AoA sent water samples to a private laboratory. The report found the water to be undrinkable and found the presence of coliform and E. coli bacteria, which are major causes of waterborne diseases. Local residents claim that in just two weeks, more than 100 people have fallen ill, including about 70 children.
Based on the information received, a team from the authority reached there and took water samples, which have been sent to the laboratory for examination. Authority officials say that the water is being analyzed and further action will be taken after receiving the report.
