According to reports, telecom companies are preparing to increase the prices of their recharge plans. The main reason for this is said to be the expansion of 5G networks and the increasing expenditure on new towers and infrastructure. Consequently, recharge plan prices may increase by the end of the year.

How much can prices increase?

According to media reports, mobile recharge plan prices could increase by approximately 12 to 15 percent in the next three to four months. If this happens, many prepaid and postpaid plans will become more expensive by December. This means that customers may have to spend more to get the same benefits.

Prices had increased earlier also

It’s been seen many times in India that when a major telecom company increases its recharge plans, other companies also increase their plan prices after some time. Last time, Jio, Airtel, and Vi revised their tariffs almost simultaneously. Therefore, it’s expected that recharges for all three companies will increase this time as well.

Why do companies want to increase the prices of recharge plans?

According to reports, telecom companies are currently focusing on increasing their average revenue per user (ARPU). They say that average revenue per user in India is still low compared to many other countries. Meanwhile, companies have invested significantly in rolling out 5G networks, installing new towers, and purchasing spectrum. Therefore, to recoup these costs and provide better network coverage, they are considering increasing their recharge plans.
