Honda Cars India is planning to launch a new compact SUV for the Indian market. While the brand has not yet revealed anything about this upcoming model, it is expected to target the Nexon’s segment in India. Here’s everything that we expect from this upcoming Honda compact SUV.   

New Honda Compact SUV –

In the compact car segment, Honda currently has only its Amaze sedan in India. Now, the Japanese automaker is planning yet another model in this segment. At the time of writing this, the brand has not revealed any major details about the model, but it is expected to be an India-focused SUV.

Honda is not a new member in the compact SUV segment. Earlier, it sold several compact cars like the Brio, Jazz, and WR-V in India. That said, the Japanese automaker does know this segment very well. Moreover, with the recent GST rates boosting compact car sales, this will help the brand increase its sales further.

We expect the upcoming Honda compact SUV to be based on the same platform as the Amaze—i.e., the global small car platform. That said, it could even carry over the powertrain and features from the compact sedan. Once launched, it will likely compete against the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Skoda Kylaq, Hyundai Venue, and other SUVs.

 Features & Powertrain

As said, the upcoming SUV could carry over the feature suite from the Amaze itself. So, the features could include an 8-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, cruise control, wireless Android and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, a 6-speaker sound system, 6 airbags standard, an ADAS suite, and more in its package.

Powertrain-wise, the same 1.2-litre NA petrol engine (89bhp & 110Nm), paired with a manual and a CVT gearbox option. To make the deal sweeter, Honda could even offer a retrofitted CNG kit with the model. This will also help to boost the sales of this model even further.

Expected Price

Honda has not yet revealed a launch timeline for this new compact SUV. However, we expect the model to be launched by the end of 2027 or early 2028. Speaking of the pricing, the new Honda compact SUV could range between Rs. 9 lakh – Rs. 16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
