Millions of British motorists could get more than £70 off airport parking charges when heading on holiday for the rest of 2026 by taking advantage of a major discount scheme. Airport parking is a costly added expense to holidays, with the average park and ride at major UK airports priced at a whopping £202.95 for a two-week trip.

However, as many as six million individuals are eligible for a Blue Light Card, which offers major discounts including on airport parking. Those booking parking through Holiday Extras can save up to 35% between July 13 and September 9, with 15% off airport hotels for those looking to stay close to the terminal the night before.

BLC members can also save up to 30% off airport car park fees through Purple Parking, which experts claim could see holidaymakers save as much as £71.03 on average.

Blue Light Card holders can also secure up to 21% off parking costs through APH (Airport Parking and Hotel) services, including a 20% year-round saving for travellers heading to Gatwick airport.

Katherine Townsley, senior travel partnerships manager at Blue Light Card said: “Many people focus on finding cheaper flights, but costs such as airport parking, hotels and lounges can quickly add up and significantly increase the overall price of a holiday.

“Through partnerships with nationwide brands including Holiday Extras, Purple Parking and APH, Blue Light Card members can unlock valuable savings before they’ve even boarded their flight.

“Whether you’re planning a family holiday, a city break or visiting loved ones abroad, these discounts are designed to help our members make their money go further while enjoying a well-earned break.”

Blue Light Cards are available for individuals working in a range of frontline professions, including the NHS, emergency services, social care, education and the armed forces.

Those who have retired from their industry can also take advantage of the programme, which also offers money off national retailers, travel providers and hospitality brands.

However, Blue Light cards are not available free of charge, with individuals needing to pay £4.99 to gain access to the programme for two years.
