A new survey by leading travel data analysts Amadeus and UN Tourism reveals Spain was Europe’s most booked destination this year despite global uncertainty.

Italy ranked second, followed by France, the U.K. and Germany, based on an analysis of passenger traffic and capacity trends between May 2025 and April 2026.

The rest of top 10 were Kazakhstan, Turkey, Portugal, Norway and Greece.

Spain is on track to welcome around 100 million international visitors in 2026, according to the country’s tourism ministry. The figure is more than double Spain’s population of about 48 million, underscoring the scale of its tourism boom.

Spain welcomed 96.8 million tourists in 2025, a record high and an increase of 3.2% compared with the previous year, making it the world’s second-most-visited country after France.

Spain’s reputation as a safe destination, combined with its beaches, historic attractions, vibrant cities, and well-developed hospitality infrastructure, has made it a preferred choice for international travelers seeking a Mediterranean experience, insiders said.
