West Ham United have made a major step forward in their summer transfer plans after agreeing in principle a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Manor Solomon. The Israel international is poised to strengthen Nuno Espirito Santo’s attacking options as the Hammers aim to secure an instant return to the Premier League.

West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have now reached common ground over Solomon’s transfer. The two London clubs have agreed in principle on a move for the 27-year-old winger, who is expected to leave N17 for the London Stadium. The package is believed to be worth an initial £5m, with a further £2m in possible add-ons, while Spurs will also retain a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

Talks had earlier run into a major obstacle over how those performance-related bonuses would be structured. Earlier reports from The Athletic said discussions had been paused temporarily because of financial differences. West Ham had initially been unwilling to meet Tottenham’s terms on certain payments linked to a possible first-time return to the Premier League.

Solomon’s spell at Tottenham has largely been shaped by bad luck and limited playing time. Since joining on a free transfer in 2023, the winger has made only six competitive appearances for the North London side. His last significant contribution in a Spurs shirt came from the bench against Liverpool in September 2023.

Even though his competitive involvement was limited, Solomon had played a notable role in Tottenham’s pre-season programme this summer. However, with Roberto De Zerbi’s squad continuing to take shape, a decision was made to let the former Fulham player leave on a permanent basis. A switch to West Ham gives Solomon the opportunity to revive a career that had previously shown huge promise in English football.

West Ham are not only bringing in a technically gifted player, but also one with valuable experience of coping with the demands of the second tier. After recovering from injury, Solomon enjoyed a very successful loan spell at Leeds United. At Elland Road, he was instrumental in helping the Yorkshire club win the Championship title and earn promotion to the top flight, scoring 10 goals during an impressive campaign.

Since that promotion, his career path has been somewhat nomadic and has taken in several high-profile European leagues. In the 2025-26 season, Crystal Palace showed interest in signing him before he eventually chose a loan move to La Liga club Villarreal. That stint ended early in January, which led to another temporary move, this time to Serie A side Fiorentina.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s summer rebuild is continuing, and Solomon’s arrival represents another move in reshaping the squad after relegation. The Israeli winger is set to become the second major addition of the transfer window after experienced defender Joel Veltman joined as a free agent following his departure from Brighton & Hove Albion.

There is a positive feeling around the club after a winning start to the competitive season. West Ham beat Portsmouth 3-1 in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Saturday, giving the squad a timely lift before their league opener. Nuno’s team will formally begin their push for promotion with a major away trip to fellow relegated club Burnley on August 16.
