Raghav Chadha has been one of the most prominent faces of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) since its inception. When the party was founded in 2013, he was one of the founding members and became part of Arvind Kejriwal’s core team. He was given many responsibilities by AAP, first as an MLA, then as a Rajya Sabha MP, but suddenly, he dealt a significant blow to Arvind Kejriwal.

On April 24, 2026, Raghav Chadha left the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. He not only left himself but also took two-thirds of the party’s MPs with him, including cricketer Harbhajan Singh. Now, for the first time, Arvind Kejriwal has spoken openly about Raghav Chadha’s departure.

What did Arvind Kejriwal say about Raghav Chadha?

YouTuber Shyam Meera Singh asked Arvind Kejriwal in an interview, “Did you anticipate that Raghav Chadha would leave?”

In response, Arvind Kejriwal said, “I had no idea.” I had no idea about anyone.

What did Arvind Kejriwal say about the other seven colleagues?

Arvind Kejriwal made no harsh comments about the MPs who left the party. Many of the seven MPs who left were close to Arvind Kejriwal. He sent those whom Arvind Kejriwal trusted to the Rajya Sabha. When asked this question, he said, “What can I do? They left. Wherever they went, they should be happy there. They should be happy. I feel at peace.”

How important was Raghav Chadha to AAP?

Raghav Chadha was one of the founding members of the Aam Aadmi Party. He had played a key role in the party since 2013. He held responsibilities ranging from party spokesperson to MLA and MP. Arvind Kejriwal trusted him to such an extent that he appointed him in-charge of Punjab for the 2022 assembly elections, and people even began calling him the “Super CM.”

Raghav Chadha was one of the leaders who drafted the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill. He was part of the core team that drafted the party’s manifesto and served as treasurer for a while.

Why did Raghav Chadha suddenly leave AAP?

He was AAP’s youngest spokesperson and received extensive media coverage. He became an MLA from Rajendra Nagar in the 2020 assembly elections. By 2022, he had become a Rajya Sabha MP. He was one of the youngest members of the Rajya Sabha. He left the party when the Aam Aadmi Party usurped his Rajya Sabha leadership.

In recent times, Raghav Chadha had only raised public issues and did not defend Arvind Kejriwal the way his fellow MPs did. He became disillusioned with the party after Arvind Kejriwal went to jail.
