Isabgol is one of those things many people keep at home. A spoonful in water, drink it, and you are done. But fitness coach Priyank Mehta says you can have Isabgol in different ways depending on what you are trying to address.

In a recent Instagram video, he shared four combinations of Isabgol. He linked each one to a different concern, including acidity, stool consistency, cravings and constipation.

What Is Isabgol?

Isabgol, also known as psyllium or ispaghula, is a type of dietary fiber. It comes from the seeds of plants belonging to the Plantago genus. The seeds are used to produce mucilage, a substance that gives psyllium its characteristic ability to absorb water.

Psyllium is mainly used as a dietary fiber to help with constipation and mild diarrhea. It is also sometimes used as a food thickener. The plants used to produce psyllium are mainly cultivated in northern India.

Now, here are the four ways Priyank talked about in his video.

1. Isabgol With Cold Milk For Acidity

According to Priyank, if acidity is your concern, try taking Isabgol with cold milk. He says that when Isabgol is taken with cold milk, it goes into the stomach and forms a protective lining. According to his explanation, this can help reduce irritation caused by stomach acid.

He points out that you do not necessarily have to take Isabgol with plain water every time. The combination you choose depends on what you are looking for.

2. Isabgol With Curd For Better Stool Consistency

The second combination is for people who are more concerned about their bowel movements. Priyank suggests taking Isabgol with curd. Isabgol can absorb excess water, while the probiotics in curd support the gut. According to him, this combination can help improve stool consistency.

3. Isabgol With Lemon Water For Late-Night Cravings

This one is for people who constantly find themselves reaching for snacks in the evening. He says the fiber sends a satiety signal to the brain, which can help reduce late-evening and late-night cravings. This combination can help you feel fuller and avoid unnecessary snacking later in the day.

4. Isabgol With Hot Water For Constipation

Priyank says Isabgol with hot water is best for constipation. Psyllium is widely used as a dietary fiber for constipation because of its water-absorbing properties.

Presenting different combinations for different purposes, Priyank explains that Isabgol does not have to be treated as a one-size-fits-all drink.
