Uttar Pradesh. The 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections may still be years away, but the political temperature is already rising. A war of words has intensified between the BJP, Samajwadi Party, and BSP over caste equations, nepotism, and social representation. On one hand, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak has targeted SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on the issue of nepotism and the Brahmin community. Meanwhile, BSP supremo Mayawati has made scathing remarks about the Samajwadi Party.

First, let’s discuss Brijesh Pathak’s statement. Taking aim at Akhilesh Yadav, Brijesh Pathak said that in politics, ideas should be countered with ideas, not personal sarcasm and accusations. Citing the views of socialist thinker Ram Manohar Lohia, he accused the Samajwadi Party of promoting nepotism. Brijesh Pathak questioned how far the party that practices politics in Lohia’s name has strayed from his ideals. Furthermore, he alleged that Akhilesh claims to be a well-wisher of the Brahmin community, but the public still remembers his past statements.

Now let’s talk about Mayawati’s attack. BSP supremo Mayawati launched a strong attack on the Samajwadi Party through a social media post. She even called the SP a ‘party that changes colors like a chameleon’. Mayawati alleged that the SP keeps changing its political strategy and caste equations for electoral gains. She also targeted the SP regarding its PDA formula. She claimed that earlier the ‘P’ in PDA was said to stand for backward, but now in an attempt to appease the Brahmin and upper caste society, its meaning is being said to be changed to ‘Pandit’. Mayawati also appealed to the people of all the society to be cautious of such politics.

This means that the current political contest in Uttar Pradesh isn’t limited to just the BJP versus the SP. The BSP is also actively engaged in its political attacks. If issues like nepotism, the PDA, the Brahmin vote, and social dynamics continue to heat up ahead of the 2027 assembly elections, the rhetoric in Uttar Pradesh politics could become even more intense in the future. Currently, the Samajwadi Party is the target of the BJP and BSP, and all eyes are on Akhilesh Yadav’s response to these attacks.
