The week surrounding Independence Day is set to bring significant hardship to many states across the country. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy and torrential rains will lash large parts of the country between August 10th and 15th. If you’re planning a trip, be sure to check your state’s weather, as heavy rains in many areas could completely disrupt normal life.

How will the weather be in Jharkhand and Bihar?

Speaking of Jharkhand, the Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rainfall in most parts of the state from August 10 to 15. However, a strict alert has been issued for particularly heavy rainfall in many parts of the state on August 13.

Meanwhile, the weather in Bihar is expected to be no less severe. According to the IMD, heavy rain is expected in most parts of Bihar on August 10th and from August 13th to 15th, which could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Clouds wreak havoc over eastern India and the mountains

In West Bengal and Sikkim, heavy rains are expected in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on August 14 and 15, while heavy rains are expected in Gangetic West Bengal from August 12 to 14. Odisha will also experience continuous rainfall from August 10 to 15.

The situation appears even more serious in the hill states. Himachal Pradesh is forecast to receive widespread rainfall from August 10th to 15th, with a severe warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall on August 10th, 11th, and 12th to 15th. Uttarakhand is also on alert for heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms from August 10th to 15th, with extremely heavy rainfall expected especially on August 10th. Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Muzaffarabad will experience heavy rainfall between August 10th and 12th to 15th, with very heavy rainfall expected at isolated locations on August 11th.

Condition of plains and Uttar Pradesh-Rajasthan

Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh are expected to experience widespread rain, with isolated heavy showers, on August 10, 11, and 13. Punjab is also expected to experience heavy rain on August 10, 11, 13, and 14.

In Uttar Pradesh, heavy rain is expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh on August 10, 13, and 14, and in western Uttar Pradesh on August 10, 13, and 14. Regarding Rajasthan’s weather, widespread rain is expected in eastern Rajasthan from August 10 to 13, with a special alert for very heavy rain on August 10 and 11. Rain is expected in western Rajasthan on August 11 and 12.

Severe warning issued for Central India and North Eastern states

In the central Indian states, heavy rains will occur from August 10th to 11th in eastern and western Madhya Pradesh, and a red alert for heavy to very heavy rain has been issued for August 10th. Heavy rains will also continue in Chhattisgarh on August 10th and from August 13th to 15th. In addition, heavy to very heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms are forecast in Vidarbha (Maharashtra) on August 10th.

In Northeast India, Assam and Meghalaya will experience heavy rainfall from August 10 to 15, with a severe warning for extremely heavy rainfall on August 14 and 15. Arunachal Pradesh will experience widespread rainfall from August 12 to 15, with extremely heavy rainfall forecast on August 14 and 15. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are also expected to experience heavy rainfall from August 12 to 15.

Active monsoon in South and West India

In western and southern India, Konkan and Goa will experience continuous heavy rainfall from August 10 to 15. The Gujarat region may experience heavy rainfall from August 10 to 12 and heavy rainfall on August 11, while Central Maharashtra and Marathwada are likely to experience thunderstorms on August 10.

Widespread rainfall will continue over Kerala, Mahe, and coastal Karnataka from August 10 to 15, with strong winds reaching 40 to 50 kilometers per hour on August 10. Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by strong winds and lightning, is also expected over Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema from August 10 to 13.
