Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda recently shared an interesting anecdote while recalling the days of his blockbuster comedy film “Partner” (2007). In an interview, Govinda revealed that before the filming began, Salman Khan was going through a very difficult and painful phase in his life. At that time, Salman was feeling very isolated and depressed. Like a good friend, Govinda stepped forward and consoled Salman and advised him to focus on himself. Govinda clearly told Salman that he didn’t look like a hero at all, so he should focus on his health and fitness. Let’s find out what the two discussed during that time.

Salman was going through a lot of pain

Speaking to ANI, Govinda explained that he supported Salman during his difficult time and encouraged him to recognize his inner strength. Govinda explained that Salman had become very withdrawn, so he decided to talk to him. Govinda said, “Salman was going through a lot of pain and suffering.” And when a person is troubled by themselves, whether it’s because of love, hopes, or expectations, there’s no one else to fix it. Therefore, he had become very introverted. I thought I should introduce him to the real him, so we sat together and had a drink. While drinking, I said to him, “Salman, you’ve seen enough outside. Now look inside yourself.”

You don’t look like a hero…

In an interview with ANI, Govinda said, “At that time, I weighed 114 kg. This was the time when I had just come out of politics. I told him, ‘By the time I lose weight, I’ll be a character actor, right? I’ll keep doing the kind of roles I did in ‘Partner,’ I’ll keep doing comedy.” I told him, “You’re a hero, but right now you don’t look like a hero. You look sad and depressed.” Get out of this situation.

Compared Salman to Dharmendra

When Salman asked Govinda what he should do next, Govinda advised him to exercise intensely for two to three hours every day. Praising Salman, Govinda said that after Dharmendra, if God has blessed any hero with the most beautiful face, the best personality, and a family of parents and siblings, it is only Salman Khan. He has that amazing stardom and aura that makes people say at first sight that he is the real hero.

‘Partner’ and Box Office History

Govinda’s advice resonated with Salman Khan, and he followed it completely. Govinda had predicted at that time that Salman would rule for the next 10 years, and indeed, that is what happened. Following this, the film ‘Partner’, directed by David Dhawan, was released on July 20, 2007, and proved to be a superhit at the box office. The film’s stellar pairing garnered immense audience love, and its songs—like “Do You Wanna Partner,” “Soni De Nakhre,” and “You Are My Love”—remain popular even today.
