Ram Gopal Varma is making a comeback in underworld stories.

Ram Gopal Varma is once again returning to the world of Mumbai’s underworld, which he has shown many times in different styles in his films. His new film ‘Police Company’ will be based on gang war, crime and police encounters. While announcing the film, Verma has described it as more dangerous than ‘D Company’. In such a situation, curiosity about the story of the film has already increased.

The story of ‘Police Company’ is inspired by the gang war that took place in Mumbai in the late 90s and early 2000s. At that time, many gangs were fighting each other for supremacy and the situation was very difficult for the police too. Meanwhile, a special police team was formed to control the gangsters. The film will show the story of a character inspired by this team and one of its members, Daya Nayak, who is being played by Harshvardhan Rane.

While announcing the film, Ram Gopal Varma has given its tagline – ‘It Is More Dangerous Than D Company’. This line indicates the entire story of the film. According to him, police is an institution, whereas the underworld works like a money-making company. But when an organization gets too much power, it can gradually take the form of a ‘company’. That is, the real question of the film will not only be how the police stop the gangsters, but will also be to what extent the power given to fight crime takes the police.

Will 90s gang war become the backdrop?

The story of the film is inspired by the era of Mumbai, when the fight for supremacy between the underworld was at its peak in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The expansion of Dawood Ibrahim’s network and his subsequent separation from Chhota Rajan changed the balance of power in Mumbai’s crime world. After this, many small and big gangs came face to face to fill this void. The impact of this violence increased so much that many youths from different parts of the country also started getting drawn into this world of crime.

Will Harshvardhan Rane become Daya Nayak?

During this period, a special team of Mumbai Police took charge to control the gang war. According to Ram Gopal Verma, this squad was active between 1997 and 2004 and killed more than 300 gangsters. Now Harshvardhan Rane will play the character inspired by Daya Nayak, a member of this team, on screen. The film will also have a large cast of actors, whose names will be revealed in the coming time. ‘Police Company’ will not be directly to ‘Company’ (2002) or ‘D Company’ (2021). That means, instead of repeating the old story, this time Ram Gopal Varma is preparing to show the same world from a new and more dangerous angle from the point of view of the police.
