To meet the increasing demand for delivery in 10-15 minutes during festivals, quick commerce companies are preparing to recruit temporary employees on a large scale. This year the demand for flexi workforce is expected to increase by 35 to 40 percent as compared to last year.

Knews Desk- Before the beginning of the festive season, quick commerce companies have intensified their preparations. Due to the increasing trend among customers of instant delivery and ordering essential goods to their homes, the demand for employees in this sector is also increasing rapidly. According to the estimates of staffing and recruitment companies, this time around 1 lakh to 3 lakh temporary jobs can be created in the quick commerce sector.

According to experts, this year quick commerce companies can hire 35 to 40 percent more temporary employees as compared to last year. In view of the increase in orders during festivals and the need for faster delivery, companies will deploy additional staff for delivery, warehouse and inventory tasks.

Some staffing agencies estimate that the number of temporary jobs in Quick Commerce this year may be around 1 lakh, while according to Randstad's estimate this figure may go above 3 lakh. At the same time, depending on the place of work and role, there may be an increase of 12 to 22 percent in the salary of the employees.

Increased demand for employees who understand technology

The need for quick commerce companies is no longer limited to just delivery personnel. Companies are also looking for people who have knowledge of technology and automation systems.

These include warehouse management system operators, automated pick-and-pack supervisors, inventory reconciliation technicians, RFID and barcode scanner specialists and employees handling AI-based systems. With the help of these technologies, tasks like order processing, packing of goods, delivery routes and deciding the responsibilities of employees are done faster.

Quick commerce's share increased in flexi workforce

Last year, Quick Commerce's share in the total festive flexi hiring was around 16 to 18 percent. This year this share is expected to increase to about 30 to 40 percent.

According to Randstad India, recruitment in Quick Commerce this year may be almost double as compared to last year. At the same time, according to the assessment of TeamLease Services, the share of Quick Commerce in the total demand for temporary employees during festivals can reach about 40 percent.

5,500 to 6,000 dark stores already exist

Currently, quick commerce companies are operating around 5,500 to 6,000 dark stores in Tier-1 cities of India. Apart from this, companies are also rapidly expanding their network in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

Around 1,000 to 1,500 new dark stores are expected to open across the country in the coming 12 to 18 months. This can also increase employment opportunities to warehousing, packing, inventory management and last-mile delivery.

10 to 15 minute delivery becomes a big challenge

The biggest challenge for quick commerce companies is to deliver orders in short time. Delivering on the promise of delivery in 10 to 15 minutes requires fast and precise operations. In such a situation, companies are preparing to temporarily appoint a large number of delivery and warehouse staff along with technology-savvy employees.

With the increase in festive shopping, this round of recruitment in the quick commerce sector is expected to intensify in the coming weeks.
