Why is the deadline given and why e-KYC is necessary?
The government has taken this decision to increase transparency in gas distribution and curb black market. The main objective of this campaign is to detect and delete fake or double gas connections in the name of the same person from the national database. What are the consequences of not doing KYC (e-KYC)?

Stopping Gas Subsidy: The direct benefit of the subsidy (e.g. Rs. 300 discount in the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana) credited to the bank account will be withheld immediately.
Cancellation of Domestic Concession Rates: Unverified (non-updated) customers will stop getting domestic subsidized cylinders. They may have to buy gas directly at twice the market i.e. expensive commercial or non-concessional rates.

Step-by-step procedure to do e-KYC from mobile in just 5 minutes from home
Now with the help of technology gas companies have made this process very easy and paperless. Customers can complete e-KYC through ‘Face Authentication’ from their own smartphones. LPG Gas e-KYC
- First of all Central Govt Official from Google Play Store or App Store in your mobile Aadhaar FaceRD App Download it.
- After that download the official mobile app of your gas company. (eg IndianOil ONE for Indian Gas, Hello BPCL for Bharat Gas, and HP Pay for HP Gas).
- Open the gas company’s main app and create a new account or login using the ‘registered mobile number’ linked to your gas connection.
- Go to the main menu or profile section of the app and select ‘Aadhaar Authentication’ or ‘e-KYC’ Click on this option.
- Submit your 12 digit Aadhaar number. Then verify by entering the OTP received on the mobile linked to Aadhaar.
- Now ‘Face Scan’ Click on this option. The front camera of the mobile will start. The main customer in whose name the gas connection is held should stand properly in front of the camera and keep his eyes open. As soon as the face is scanned successfully, a ‘Successful’ message will appear on the screen indicating that the e-KYC is complete. LPG Gas e-KYC
What are the other options if not available online?
For customers in rural areas or who cannot do KYC online, two offline options are also available.
By Delivery Boy : The delivery boy who comes to deliver the gas cylinder to your home has a biometric machine. You can also complete the process on the spot by giving your thumb impression on their machine.
Approaching Gas Distributor: Customers can directly visit their local gas agency with their Aadhaar card, gas passbook and customer number and get verified there through the biometric machine. LPG Gas e-KYC
Customers who have already successfully completed their biometric or Aadhaar verification need not repeat the process. However, the companies have appealed to those whose work is incomplete to check their KYC status today instead of waiting for the August 16 deadline to avoid time hassle and financial loss.
