19 year old Ashish Yadav, resident of Uttar Pradesh, left his village and moved to Hisar, Haryana to pursue a career in javelin throw, after which his life changed completely. After just 15 months of hard work, he won the silver medal in the Under-20 World Championship. After Neeraj Chopra, he became the second Indian player to win a silver medal in this competition. Neeraj Chopra had achieved this feat in the year 2016. Exactly 10 years later, Ashish Yadav won the silver medal in the Under-20 World Championship. However, even after such huge success, the poverty of Ashish Yadav's family has not gone away and he is still searching for a job.

Before moving to Hisar, Ashish used to help his father sell milk in Mirzapur. His father was the only earning person in the family. Ashish told news agency PTI, “My father sells milk in our village of Mirzapur. My father has 6 brothers, out of which 3 brothers are soldiers and three brothers are farmers. I feel bad that my father sells milk.

Javelin throw silver medalist is looking for a job

Ashish Yadav further said, “I am searching for a job, but haven't found it yet. I will train well in Hisar and work hard so that I can win a medal for the country (and I get a job). The financial condition of the house is the same. It is not improving because I am not getting any job.

After getting training from coach Arvind Kumar, there has been a huge improvement in Ashish Yadav's game. Now they can throw the javelin about 20 meters further than before. Also, due to good eating habits and strength training, his weight has also increased from 68 kg to 85 kg.

Silver medalist praised his coach

Ashish said, “When I went to Arvind sir, he had players throwing 60 metres, but my target was to throw 70 metres. In 6 months with coach Arvind, I increased my distance by 20 metres. When I came, I did not know the correct technique of throwing the javelin. He taught me the correct technique, worked on strengthening my muscles and made me stronger than ever.”
