Cricket Updates: In the first Test match being played against Bangladesh in Darwin, Australia's first innings was reduced to just 198 runs. This is Australia's lowest score ever against Bangladesh in Test cricket. Earlier in 2017, the Australian team was all out for 217 runs in the Mirpur Test. After restricting Australia to a low score, Bangladesh also finished the day on a high note. Till stumps, the visiting team has scored 96 runs after losing 1 wicket. That means, on the basis of first innings, Bangladesh is still 102 runs behind Australia.

Hasan Mahmood wreaked havoc
Fast bowler Hasan Mahmood played the biggest role in destroying Australia's innings. He took 6 wickets for 55 runs in 17 overs. This is his best bowling performance in Test cricket. Hasan made Jake Weatherald, Travis Head, Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon his victims. Apart from them, Taskin Ahmed and Ibadat Hussain took 2-2 wickets.
Half of Australia's problems increased even before lunch.
After winning the toss, Australia decided to bat first but the start was not as expected. Hasan Mahmood gave the first success to Bangladesh by dismissing Jake Weatherald for 23 runs. Soon after this he also sent Travis Head to the pavilion. Marnus Labuschagne was out after scoring only 1 run, while Cameron Green could score only 13 runs. The result was that by lunch Australia's score was 4 wickets for 74 runs.

Smith took over the innings, but not for long
Steve Smith along with Alex Carey tried to handle the troubled Australian innings. There was a partnership of 55 runs between the two for the fifth wicket, which was the biggest partnership of Australia's entire innings. When Carey was out after scoring 19 runs, Bangladeshi bowlers again dominated Australia's lower order. Beau Webster scored 12 runs and Pat Cummins scored 9 runs, while Mitchell Starc returned with just 1 run.
Smith held one end and scored an inning of 71 runs in 109 balls. He hit 7 fours and 1 six in his innings. However, once he was out, Australia's innings could not last long. Nathan Lyon became the sixth victim of Hasan Mahmood after scoring 7 runs and the entire team was reduced to 198 runs.
Hasan again did wonders on foreign soil
With taking 6 wickets, Hasan Mahmood achieved the feat of taking 5 or more wickets in an innings for the third time in Test cricket. The special thing is that all three of his five-wicket hauls have come on foreign soil. Now Bangladesh has a chance to take a big lead in reply to Australia's 198 runs on the second day of the match. At the end of the first day, the score of 96/1 has put the visiting team in a strong position.
