The C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette is already a seriously wild machine straight from the factory, with even the standard version capable of touching 200 miles per hour. Even so, that clearly was not enough for Rezvani, as the custom builder’s new Corvette-based Beast X gives the mid-engined sports car a dramatic exterior transformation of the sort most aftermarket firms would not dare attempt.
The Rezvani Beast X begins with a C8 Corvette, though you could hardly be faulted for failing to identify it at first glance. Thanks to a completely new carbon-fibre body, the Beast X looks closer to an F-22 than a standard C8. Lightweight materials are used extensively throughout, with the car pairing a sculpted carbon-fibre exterior with carbon-fibre bucket seats and lightweight magnesium wheels.
However, the true centrepiece of the Beast X is its bespoke 6.2-litre V-8. The Irvine, California-based tuning company has taken the pre-facelift Corvette’s V-8 and turned things up dramatically. Using a twin-turbo setup for the V-8 and adding an electric motor that brings all-wheel drive into the performance equation, Rezvani says output rises to 1560 horsepower and 1280 lb-ft of torque. The company claims the Beast X can sprint from 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds, placing it in the same realm as ultra-quick EVs such as the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and Lucid Air Sapphire.
Rezvani has not confirmed which version of GM’s 6.2-litre V-8 serves as the basis for the Beast X’s powertrain. However, our sibling publication Car and Driver believes the setup underneath is a heavily reworked version of the Corvette E-Ray’s system, although it also seems possible that it could use a variation of the Corvette ZR1X’s more aggressive hardware.
“Limited to just five examples,” the tuner said, “a new American hypercar engineered around one uncompromising mission: to combine extreme power, relentless traction, advanced aerodynamics, and raw mechanical emotion into a car that feels alive from the instant the driver presses the throttle.”
Inside, the C8’s steering wheel appears to have been cut into a yoke-style shape, while the “purpose-built” carbon-fibre bucket seats add yet another layer of intensity to the overall package.
Just five units of the Rezvani Beast X will be built, and its price has not yet been announced. However, buyers interested in securing a chance to purchase one can place a refundable $1500 allocation through Rezvani’s website. If you have been wanting a Corvette with a bit more drama, the Beast X may be exactly that.
