There are some dreams which silently make their place within us and stay with us for years. They just wait for the right circumstances and the right time to make a beautiful reality happen. For Shiboprasad Mukherjee, a similar dream is finally coming true – the dream of working with Bollywood's OG 'disco dancer' and veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty. Having grown up watching Mithun Chakraborty on screen, Shibopprasad has always admired the actor for all his memorable roles – be it Mrigaya, Do Anjaane and Agneepath or Disco Dancer and Dance Dance.
His illustrious and diverse journey in Hindi and Bengali cinema has always excited Shibop Prasad. His work has been a testament to the limitless possibilities an actor can realize by transcending the boundaries of language, genre and generation.
Shiboprasad says, “Everyone has some dreams. They quietly make a place in our hearts from a very young age. I too had a similar dream that someday I would get a chance to work with Mithun Chakraborty.” With time, the professional acquaintance between these two giants of the Indian entertainment world grew and the desire to work together also grew stronger. But in the words of Shibopprasad, perhaps he was waiting for the right story.
That moment came when he finally met Mithun Chakraborty and narrated him the story of the film. As soon as the story ended, Mithun da shook his hand and said, “You have caught the story perfectly! This is the story of my life.”
For Shiboprasad, this moment was more than just a professional collaboration.
He recalls, “Somewhere inside me, that little child was still sitting quietly and listening. It was a very emotional moment for me to hear these words from the person whom I had seen and loved on screen since childhood.”
Their relationship began to take shape even before the story was told. Recalling an old conversation he had with Mithun Chakraborty in the US, Shiboprasad says, “I introduced myself over the phone and sent him a voice note. After listening to it, he called me back and said, 'Shibu! Why are you giving me such a long introduction about yourself? I am ready to work!'”
Now the wait is finally about to end.
In 2027, Mithun Chakraborty will be seen in the lead role in a special offering from Windows Production House. Shiboprasad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy are coming together for their next film with the veteran actor. The project will be one of the special films being made to mark 25 years of Windows Production House and will add another memorable chapter to the banner's journey in this important year.
Shiboprasad says, “Today everything has been finalized. The most important thing is that Dada is absolutely fine. Just have to wait for a few more days. After that my dream that I have had for years will become a reality. Finally, I, Nandita Di and Mithun Chakraborty are working together.”
A dream that Shibop Prasad had harbored within himself for years is finally coming true. This is not just the story of Shibop Prasad's dream coming true, but a special moment for all of us – because Windows Production and Mithun Da are coming together for the first time.
