Patna. There is great news for the people associated with goat rearing in Bihar. The state government is now working towards making goat rearing an organized and profitable rural business instead of limiting it to just traditional work. In this connection, a non-financial agreement has been signed between the Animal Husbandry Directorate and the Goat Trust.

Under this agreement, emphasis will be laid on providing scientific rearing, animal health, better management and training facilities to goat farmers. Its objective is to increase the productivity of goat farmers and also improve their income.

Goat milk will get market

The government is also preparing to connect goat milk with the organized market. For this, cooperative societies of goat farmers are being formed in different blocks. Under the scheme, work will be done on collecting goat milk through the existing milk collection system and processing and packaging it according to quality. Later, there is a plan to market it through Sudha brand. Along with this, initiative is also being taken towards forming a separate cooperative union for goat farmers.

Training will be provided at village level

After the agreement, special attention will be given to providing technical support to goat farmers at the village level. Activities like vaccination of animals, disease control, anthelmintic drugs, better nutrition, reproductive management and clean milk production will be promoted. The aim of the government is to create such a system in which goat farmers do not have to face the problem of finding markets for their produce and they can increase their income by paying attention to production and quality.
