New Delhi. The central government has issued a big update regarding the next census of India. A list of 40 questions has been notified for the second phase of Census 2027 i.e. Population Enumeration. The special thing is that this time information to caste will also be recorded. Apart from this, information like Aadhar number, Voter ID, passport, driving license, mobile number and bank account are also included in the questions.

Questions will be asked from caste to religion

In the census, information like person’s name, relationship to the head of the family, gender, date of birth and age, marital status, age at marriage, name of spouse and declared citizenship will be taken. Along with this there will also be questions to religion and SC/ST/caste. This means that this time caste data will be collected on a large scale in the census. The government has already decided to conduct caste enumeration in the second phase of Census 2027.

Information about studies and job also

The questionnaire will also have questions to the person’s disability, knowledge of mother tongue and other languages, literacy and digital literacy, status of studies in educational institution and highest educational qualification. Many information will also be collected regarding employment. Information will be collected including whether the person worked in the last year or not, category of economic activity, occupation, type of industry or service, category of worker and place of work.

Why did you go to another city? this will also be asked

In the census, place of birth, previous place of residence, reason for migration, how long have been living at the present place and address of permanent residence will also be recorded. Some information to reproduction will also be taken from women. These include questions like the number of children currently alive, the number of children born so far and the number of children born in the last one year.

From Covid vaccine to bank account

There are some questions in the new census questionnaire which are attracting special attention of the people. This includes information like place of Covid-19 vaccination, total bank accounts, mobile number and Aadhaar number. Apart from this, Voter ID number, if available, passport number, if Indian passport is available, and availability of driving license will also be asked.

Census 2027 will be held in two phases

Census 2027 is being conducted in two phases. The first phase is House Listing and Housing Census, in which information to the house, housing condition, facilities and assets owned by the family is being collected. This phase is being carried out over a period of 30 days between April to September 2026 as per the convenience of the states and union territories. For this, the facility of Self-Enumeration has also been provided.

The second phase of Population Enumeration is proposed in February 2027. In this, demographic, socio-economic, cultural, migration and reproductive information of every person will be collected. Whereas in Ladakh and snowy areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the second phase will be done in September 2026.
