Bangladesh Power Crisis News: The electricity crisis in Bangladesh is continuously deepening. The daily demand for electricity in the country is around 18,000 MW, but due to the current crisis the supply of electricity has come down to around 13,000 MW. Amidst this crisis, Bangladesh Energy Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmood Had a meeting with Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi in Dhaka. During the meeting he requested India to supply additional diesel.
Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmood said that a pipeline exists between Bangladesh and India, through which diesel is supplied. He has urged India to provide additional diesel through this pipeline.
Energy crisis due to shortage of natural gas
The main reason for the current energy crisis in Bangladesh is the shortage of natural gas. This shortage has become more serious mainly after the fire that broke out on July 21 at a natural gas terminal operated by an American company.
Apart from this, due to bad weather, many ships carrying Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) are stranded at sea, affecting the gas supply in the country.
Bangladesh is hoping this
Due to less availability of gas for power generation, power generation in Bangladesh has been directly affected. In such a situation, Bangladesh hopes that with the help of additional fuel from India, the current power crisis can be reduced to some extent.
Currently in Bangladesh In many parts of India, electricity is being cut for 8 to 10 hours every day. Its biggest impact is being seen in rural areas outside the capital Dhaka. The heat has further increased the problems of the people.
Order to close mall-market-shops by 8 pm
To deal with the power shortage, the government has ordered the closure of shopping malls, markets and shops across the country by 8 pm from Wednesday. Fairs, trade fairs and cultural programs will also have to end by 8 pm.
Illuminated billboards will have to be switched off by 7 pm and decorative lights have been completely banned. However, food shops, hospitals and pharmacies have been exempted from these restrictions.
