Bombay Scottish School (Mahim) edged Cathedral and John Connon (Fort) 1-0 in a tense final to lift the girls U-16 Division I Dreams Sports (MSSA) inter-school football title at Wings Sports Centre, Bandra, on Friday.
Prisha Gupta scored the decisive goal in the 12th minute, calmly tapping home from close range to give Bombay Scottish the lead. The Mahim outfit held on to their advantage to secure the title. The title marks Bombay Scottish’s first major title of the MSSA season under newly appointed head coach Vishal Rathod’s first-year tenure.
However, the Cathedral squad suffered from fatigue during the final as they had to play the semi-final earlier on the same day due to a scheduling issue which pushed the quarter-finals from Wednesday to Thursday, and subsequently the semi-final from Thursday to Friday.
