Kia is all set to launch the Sorento three-row SUV in India on September 4, 2026. Ahead of its official arrival, the South Korean automaker has confirmed that the SUV will be available with an AWD (all-wheel drive) configuration, similar to its global counterpart. The Kia Sorento AWD version will directly take on the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron and Jeep Meridian, which are currently priced between Rs 36.99 lakh – Rs 46.99 lakh, Rs 41.99 lakh – Rs 47.74 lakh and Rs 23.33 lakh – Rs 37.92 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom).
Furthermore, the latest teaser reveals that the Sorento SUV will be equipped with a Live Gen AI in-car voice assistant feature. This system turns the vehicle’s interface from a voice remote control into a more conversational AI assistant. It can not only controls supported functions, but also answer questions and provides connected information.
Key Features
Other expected features include a dual 12.3-inch display setup, a powered driver’s seat, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a central console with a touch-capacitive panel, a panoramic sunroof, a four-spoke steering wheel, dual zone climate control, an electronic parking brake, a powered driver’s seat, a wireless charging pad, multiple airbags, Level 2 ADAS and more. The new Kia 7-seater SUV will be offered in both 6 and 7-seat configurations.
Engine Options
The Kia Sorento will be available with two powertrain options – a strong hybrid and a diesel. Similar to the global-spec version, the India-bound model will feature a 1.6L turbocharged petrol strong hybrid powertrain, generating power worth 238bhp and 380Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be performed by a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
The SUV’s diesel version is likely to share the 2.2L turbo engine with the Kia Carnival. The oil burner delivers a maximum power of 202bhp and 440Nm of torque. However, it’s yet to be confirmed whether the AWD drivetrain will be available with both powertrains or only with one of them.
