Aadhaar based biometric e-KYC has been made mandatory for domestic LPG customers. Its objective is to deliver subsidy to the right customer and stop fake connections. Customers can get the verification done through mobile app, gas agency or during cylinder delivery.

Tech: LPG e-KYC: Domestic customers of Indane, Bharat Gas and HP Gas are required to complete Aadhaar based biometric verification. This will help in authenticating the identity of the gas connection and delivering the benefits of government subsidy to the right person. Customers can do face authentication sitting at home through the mobile app of the respective gas company. This facility is also available at the gas agency if the process is not completed through mobile.

Why is LPG e-KYC important?

The purpose of conducting Aadhaar based biometric verification for domestic LPG connections is to verify the identity of the customers. This helps ensure that the gas connection is in the name of the genuine customer and the benefit of government subsidy is being availed by the right person.

E-KYC can also help in identifying fake or duplicate gas connections. Apart from this, this process is also useful in preventing irregularities to wrong supply and subsidy of LPG.

Aadhaar based biometric verification is especially important for the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme, as e-KYC is required to avail the subsidy.

How to do e-KYC sitting at home from mobile?

LPG customers do not need to go to the gas agency every time for e-KYC. Aadhaar verification can also be done through the official mobile app of the concerned gas company.

First of all open the official app of the company to your LPG connection. After this choose the option of e-KYC or Aadhaar verification. After filling the requested information, the process of Aadhaar based face authentication will have to be completed.

Face authentication may require the Aadhaar FaceRD app on the phone. The face must be kept in the correct position in front of the camera during the procedure. Verification can be easily completed by scanning the face in adequate light and keeping the mobile steady.

After completion of e-KYC, please check its status on the respective app or portal. This will let you know whether your verification has been successful or not.

What to do if e-KYC is not available through mobile?

If e-KYC is not completed through mobile then customers can go to their nearest LPG distributor or gas agency and get biometric verification done. Aadhaar authentication can be done through the official system available there.

In some cases, biometric verification may also be facilitated through an authorized device available during delivery of the cylinder. Customers can get information about this facility from their gas distributor.

After completion of e-KYC, the customer must check its status, so that there is no problem later.

What is the situation regarding the deadline for e-KYC?

Information regarding the deadline of August 16, 2026 regarding e-KYC has appeared in many places. At the same time, it has also come to light that in some areas customers will be given additional time till August 23. Therefore, customers should confirm the last date applicable in their area from the official app, website of the respective LPG company or the gas distributor.

Customers should also be aware that if e-KYC is not done, the gas connection may be immediately closed or cancelled. As per available information, mere pending e-KYC does not result in immediate cancellation of connection. However, it may have an impact on subsidies and other government benefits.

Customers should not use any unknown link, phone call or suspicious website for e-KYC. Aadhaar information should be shared only through the official channel of the LPG company or through the authorized gas agency.
