South Africa star Heinrich Klaasen had a relatively short international career before his retirement in 2025. The 35-year-old played four Tests, 60 ODIs and 58 T20Is for his national team. Klaasen nearly won the 2024 T20 World Cup for his team with an assault on Axar Patel in the final.
Currently, he is part of the Manchester Super Giants side, which is set to play the Men’s Hundred final against Trent Rockets. The batter played a key role in his team’s run to the final by scoring 63 in the eliminator game against Sunrisers Leeds on Friday.
Proteas star in a recent chat with JioStar spoke about his life after retirement from international cricket. “International cricket retirement gave me freedom to play different franchise leagues. It also gives me the time to reset, take everything in, and work on things that are important and then get my body ready for the next campaign.”
The right-handed batter had a great time in IPL 2026, scoring 624 runs from 15 matches with six half-centuries. Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to make the final after losing in the eliminator game to Rajasthan Royals in New Chandigarh. The cricketer is now just working towards winning titles with whichever team he is playing for.
“Winning titles is my goal now, so I want to help whichever team I am part of across leagues.” He began The Hundred 2026 well, but his bat went silent in the middle of the tournament.
How has Klaasen performed in The Hundred 2026?
The batter has played nine games and scored 166 runs with just two fifties. He has a strike-rate of 182 and has managed to hit 15 boundaries and nine sixes. In the last game, he amassed 63 runs from 26 balls with the help of six boundaries and four sixes before falling to Nathan Ellis.
Paul Walter was the top -scorer with a 46-ball 80 as he hit three boundaries and six sixes. MSG skipper If Buttler accumulated 33 runs as his side managed 186.
Leeds, in reply, were able to score just 166 runs, with Ryan Rickelton scoring 54 runs. Harry Brook was the next best batter with 49, which came off 31 balls before Sonny Baker ended his innings. The best bowler for Super Giants was Josh Tongue, who took 4/26 from his 20 deliveries.
