Tata and Reliance's ₹66,000 crore Swaha in 5 days!

TCS Reliance Market Cap Loss: The stock market has seen a lot of upheaval in the last five trading days. Of the top-10 Sensex companies, 5 companies suffered heavy losses, while investors in 5 companies made strong earnings despite the market rout. The biggest hit was to Tata Group company TCS and Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries (RIL), due to which over ₹66,000 crore of investors in these two companies were washed away in just 5 days.

Big fall in Sensex and Nifty

Both the major indices closed lower amid sharp ups and downs in the stock market over the past week:
  • Sensex: BSE’s 30-share Sensex fell 490 points to end the week down 71 points at 78,009.
  • Nifty: The 50-share index of the National Stock Exchange fell 205 points to close at 24,366.
  • Companies with the highest losses: TCS, Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI.

Hit TCS and Reliance hard

  • TCS Market Cap: The market capitalization of Tata Group’s IT company TCS has fallen to ₹8.53 lakh crore. Its investors have lost ₹34,263 crore.
  • Reliance Industries (RIL): Reliance’s market cap fell to ₹17.70 lakh crore, leaving investors with a loss of ₹31,869 crore.

Banking stocks also disappointed

Among the companies that suffered losses last week were three of the country’s largest banks:
  • SBI: State Bank of India’s market value has fallen by ₹25,892 crore to ₹9.86 lakh crore.
  • HDFC Bank: HDFC Bank’s mcap fell by ₹ 7,165 crore to ₹ 11.21 lakh crore.
  • ICICI Bank: ICICI Bank’s market cap fell by ₹2,793 crore to ₹10.18 lakh crore.

These 5 companies including LIC posted bumper earnings

On the one hand Reliance and Banks suffered losses, on the other hand 5 companies defrauded investors:
  • LIC: LIC’s market cap reached ₹5.23 lakh crore and investors printed ₹26,438.49 crore in 5 days.
  • Bharti Airtel: Bharti Airtel’s mcap increased by ₹20,592 crore to ₹12.43 lakh crore.
  • Bajaj Finance: The market cap increased by ₹ 3,549 crore to ₹ 6.77 lakh crore.
  • L&T: Market value increased by ₹2491 crore to ₹5.59 lakh crore.
  • HUL: Investors in Hindustan Unilever earned ₹2,079 crore and valued the company at ₹4.91 lakh crore.

Despite losses, Reliance’s dominance remains

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries remains intact at the top spot in the list of the country’s most valuable companies, despite a major drop in market cap. It is followed by Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, TCS, Bajaj Finance, L&T, LIC and HUL respectively.
