Liverpool may have received a double encouragement in their chase for Paris Saint-Germain forwards Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye after neither player was named in Luis Enrique’s squad for the Trophée des Champions clash against Lens.
Barcola and Mbaye were both unused substitutes in PSG’s Super Cup win over Aston Villa in midweek, but the pair were then left out entirely for Sunday’s match, adding to speculation that transfers could be moving closer.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with both attackers, with reports indicating that Barcola has already agreed personal terms on a five-year deal with the Premier League champions. PSG are believed to rate the France international at about £120m, while the total outlay required for Barcola and Mbaye together has reportedly proved to be a stumbling block.
Manchester City, meanwhile, are considering another move for a Chelsea player, with Portugal winger Pedro Neto emerging as a possible target.
According to reports, City are interested in the 26-year-old and could step up their pursuit depending on developments involving Savinho, who has been linked with Tottenham. City are also facing competition from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, while Chelsea are thought to value Neto at around £70m.
A switch would see Neto reunite with Enzo Maresca, who was his manager at Chelsea last season.
City are also being linked with another Chelsea star, as Enzo Fernandez has reportedly been identified as a potential replacement for Rodri.
The midfielder’s future has become a major point of discussion after City agreed a £65.4m deal with Barcelona for Rodri, who is expected to complete his move to the Spanish champions this week. Chelsea value Fernandez at around £120m, which means City would need to make another major financial commitment to replace their Ballon d’Or-winning midfielder.
Juventus have now shifted their focus to Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario after stepping back from their pursuit of Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.
The Italian side have agreed a loan deal for the 29-year-old Tottenham No. 1, with an option to buy included.
Juventus had been trying to sign Martinez, but worries over the 33-year-old’s finger injury, along with Villa’s valuation, have led the Serie A club to cool their interest.
Villa, meanwhile, have agreed a deal to sign Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki for a package worth up to £34.2m including add-ons, in a move that could further alter the European goalkeeping market.
Newcastle are also closing in on another important signing, with Amar Dedic arriving on Tyneside ahead of his transfer from Benfica.
The 23-year-old Bosnia-Herzegovina international is joining in a £29.5m deal and is expected to sign a five-year contract once he completes his medical.
Dedic’s arrival will add depth to Newcastle’s right-back options and marks another significant investment as they continue reshaping their squad.
Nottingham Forest have also joined the race for Chelsea striker Liam Delap.
Reports say Forest have joined Newcastle and Everton in showing interest in the 23-year-old, who wants to stay in the Premier League. Chelsea are understood to be seeking around £40m for the striker.
Delap joined Chelsea from Ipswich last summer but had an injury-hit season and managed only one goal in 12 Premier League starts.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are continuing to track young attacking talent across Europe, with Bayer Leverkusen forward Christian Kofane among the players on their radar.
Kofane’s agent Eric Depolo has confirmed Arsenal’s interest in the 19-year-old, who made his breakthrough in Germany after moving from Albacete to Leverkusen.
