Separate 'Basin' should be made at the airport for Muslim passengers! This is what Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in Texas, USA offered. But Texas Governor Greg Abbott dismissed the letter. He claimed that no special facilities can be given to people of a particular religious community at the government airport. It amounts to discrimination.
Islam has special rituals for attaining purity before offering prayers. Basically hands, face, feet should be washed. A special type of 'basin' is constructed for this, known as 'ablution station'. The Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Authority in Texas has proposed building such a 'basin' inside the airport. But when it came out, the governor of Texas was angry. He wrote in his X-Handle, '”Government airports cannot give special privileges to people of a particular religion. The plan to build separate basins for Muslims at Dallas airport is illegal.”
Meanwhile, Dallas airport already has two such 'basins' in operation. On the other hand, Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport also has separate 'basins' for Muslims. Abbott said he has already written to the federal Department of Transportation to investigate the Dallas and Houston airports. Besides, he warned, government grants to both airports would be canceled if any violation of rules was found.
