All teams are getting ready for Afghanistan 2026. The Indian team for this tournament has already been announced. Afghanistan Cricket Board also announced their team on August 17. Fifteen players have been selected in the team. The Afghanistan squad for the 2026 Asian Games consists of mostly young players. Also, there are some players who have previously represented Afghanistan's senior team.

Darvesh Rasooli holds the captaincy

Afghanistan has appointed Darwesh Rasooli as its captain for the 2026 Asian Games. Najibullah Jadran and Karim Jannat, who have represented Afghanistan at the international level, have also been included in the squad. Rashid Khan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Azmatullah Umarzai have been rested and not given a place in the squad. Youngsters like Mohammad Akram, Hasan Isakhil, Khalid Taniwal, Imran Mir and Faisal Khan Shinozada have been included in the squad.

The men's cricket matches of the 2026 Asian Games will be played from September 17 to October 3. Afghanistan have been placed in Group 'A' along with Japan and Nepal. Group 'B' also includes Hong Kong, China, Malaysia and Oman. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will enter the quarter-finals directly. The semi-final matches will be played on September 20. The bronze and gold medal matches will be played on September 22. Indian fans are eagerly waiting for this tournament.

Afghanistan's performance in men's cricket at the Asian Games has been outstanding. The team won silver medals at the 2010, 2014 and 2022 Asian Games. Now their focus will be on winning the gold medal for the first time. A total of 10 teams will participate in both the men's and women's groups.
