This is because a number of major automakers are getting ready to launch a number of new models across different segments. So, without taking more of your precious time, here are the details of some of the most important upcoming EVs that are expected to launch in India.
MG Hector TomaHawk EV - Launch this month

JSW MG Motor India is preparing to launch its new seven-seater electric SUV in India on August 26, 2026. The upcoming model has already been spotted during the shooting of its official TVC. This spotting has revealed its exterior design without camouflage. The Hector TomaHawk EV will boast a large and upright design, with a gloss-black front grille, an illuminated MG logo and dotted LED DRLs.
The headlamps will be sleek units with LED elements, and the front bumper gets squared-off detailing and black elements. The SUV will also get a dual-tone exterior with a black roof, integrated roof rails, large alloy wheels and chunky cladding around the wheel arches.
On the inside, the seven-seater SUV is expected to get a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other expected features include a digital driver's display, wireless charging, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS.
The Hector TomaHawk EV is expected to come offered with a 69.2kWh battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor. And based on the international model, it could produce around 204 PS and 310 Nm and offer a claimed range of around 530 km. The final India-spec specifications will be announced at launch.
Tata Safari.ev - Expected around Diwali 2026
Tata Motors is also getting ready to launch the Safari.ev in India. It will become the company's first three-row electric SUV. Test mules have already been spotted in India, and the model is expected to make its debut around the Diwali period. The Safari.ev is expected to retain the overall proportions of the existing Safari, although it will get several EV-specific design changes.
The electric SUV is also expected to share a large part of its equipment with the Harrier.ev. However, recent spy shots have suggested that Tata could give it an even more feature-rich cabin. One of the biggest expected highlights is a triple-screen dashboard similar to the setup seen in the Sierra and Sierra.ev.
The Safari.ev will most likely use Tata's 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs, with dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions potentially producing up to 500 Nm. It could also get a bigger 80 kWh battery pack option as well. It is also expected to get features such as Level 2+ ADAS, terrain modes, a 540-degree camera, self-parking, summon mode, digital IRVM, V2L and V2V.
Hyundai HE1i - Expected in 2026-27

Hyundai is currently developing a new sub-four-metre electric SUV which is internally known as the HE1i. This will become the first electric vehicle from Hyundai which has been developed specifically with the Indian market in mind. Test mules of this EV have already been spotted in India.
The HE1i is expected to get Hyundai's familiar styling elements, including sleek LED DRLs, split headlamps, an upright bonnet, thick black wheel-arch cladding, roof rails and connected LED tail lamps. The India-spec VF5 gets a more upright front end with a clamshell bonnet, revised headlamps and a split-lighting setup.
The side profile will be largely similar to the global model, with black wheel arches, a black C-pillar and lower door moulding. At the rear, the SUV is expected to get a connected-looking LED tail-lamp design along with a roof-mounted stop lamp and a redesigned bumper. The test mule features an all-black interior with a two-spoke steering wheel and a large floating infotainment display.
Internationally, the VF5 comes available with 29.6 kWh and 37.23 kWh battery options and produces 95 hp and 136 bhp, respectively. However, India-specific specifications are yet to be confirmed.
