Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the Baleno facelift in India on September 5, 2026. The updated premium hatchback will receive a mid-cycle refresh nearly four years after the current second-generation model was introduced in 2022. Sold through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa dealerships, the Baleno competes with the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza. The facelift is expected to bring styling and feature updates ahead of the festive season, while the existing powertrain options are likely to continue.

The biggest changes are expected at the front. The updated Baleno could get a redesigned grille with a chrome horizontal element connecting the headlights, along with a revised front bumper. The existing headlights and boomerang-shaped LED DRLs are expected to remain largely unchanged. On the side, the overall profile should continue with only minor changes, including new alloy wheel designs. At the rear, the facelift could feature revised LED tail lamps and a slightly redesigned bumper. The overall shape of the hatchback is expected to remain familiar.

Baleno facelift features

The dashboard layout is likely to remain largely unchanged, although Maruti Suzuki could introduce updated upholstery and additional equipment. The current 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system is expected to continue, while some reports suggest that a larger display could be introduced. A single-pane sunroof and ambient lighting are also expected to be part of the updated equipment list. Other features such as automatic climate control and a head-up display are likely to continue on higher variants.

Engine and performance

The Baleno facelift is expected to retain its 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing around 90hp. It will continue with 5-speed manual and AMT transmission options. The CNG version is also expected to remain available, producing around 77.5hp and paired with a manual gearbox. There have been reports about possible hybrid or turbocharged powertrains, but the available information largely points towards the existing engines being carried forward.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift price

The current Baleno is positioned as an affordable premium hatchback, and the facelift is expected to remain competitively priced. Its starting price is expected to be below Rs 6.50 lakh, although the final price could be slightly higher than the outgoing model. Maruti Suzuki is expected to reveal the complete price, variants, features and specifications at the September 5 launch. Toyota is also expected to introduce its updated version of the Baleno-based Glanza around the same period.
