More than 100 mega events planned for the second half of this year are expected to draw over 1.85 million visitors to Hong Kong, the world’s second-most visited city for international arrivals after Bangkok.
Hong Kong Cyclothon, Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival and others could create a total sales value of 5.9 billion Hong Kong dollars (US$752 million) in the second half, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The city will host the 2026 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers’ Meeting in October.

About 1.75 million visitors were drawn to more than 130 events in Hong Kong between January and June, generating around HK$5.8 billion in spending and contributing HK$3.3 billion to the economy, the South China Morning Post reported.
With revitalized neighborhoods, a thriving dining and nightlife scene, world-class cultural institutions and some of Asia’s most ambitious tourism campaigns, Hong Kong is emerging as a favorite destination of tourists, British magazine Time Out wrote.
The city received 31.22 million visitors in the first seven months of the year, up 12% from the same period last year.
