UP Weather Alert: Heavy rain on more than 15 districts in next 48 hours, IMD issues red alert

Monsoon has once again become active at full speed in Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in the southern and south-eastern areas of the state during the next 48 hours. According to the Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, due to the low pressure area near Jharkhand and active cyclonic circulation in eastern Uttar Pradesh, there is an environment of heavy rain in the entire state.

The Meteorological Department estimates that this period of heavy rains will continue in different parts of the state till August 23. There is also a possibility of extremely torrential rain in some areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Record breaking rainfall in these districts in the last 24 hours

During the last 24 hours, the heaviest and heaviest rainfall was recorded in Prayagraj division. Talking about the figures, 192 mm rainfall was recorded in Meja of Prayagraj, 126 mm in Koraon and 123 mm in Ghorawal of Sonbhadra.

Along with this, 140 mm rainfall occurred in Nagina of Bijnor, 146 mm of rain in Bijnor city and 150 mm of rain in Gunnaur of Sambhal. Whereas 69.7 mm rainfall was recorded in Prayagraj city, 67.4 mm in Fatehpur and 66 mm in Fursatganj of Amethi.

Red and orange alert issued for these districts

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is every possibility of very heavy to extremely heavy rain in Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Kaushambi, Chandauli and Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi) districts till August 19.

Apart from this, it has been advised to be cautious regarding heavy rains in many other districts including Banda, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Mahoba and Hamirpur.

Weather of Lucknow and mathematics of rainfall in the state so far

In the capital Lucknow on Tuesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 31.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 25.4 degrees Celsius. The city recorded 16.4 mm rainfall from morning to evening, while the moisture level in the air reached 84 to 98 percent. Light clouds and light showers have been predicted in Lucknow and surrounding areas on Wednesday.

If we look at the total rainfall figures in the state, till August 18, Eastern Uttar Pradesh has recorded 25 percent less rainfall than normal, Western Uttar Pradesh has recorded 5 percent less rainfall and the entire state has received an average of 17 percent less rainfall.
