Tezzbuzz Desk- BJP's national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala has announced his resignation from all posts and primary membership of the party. Poonawala, who was among the prominent faces of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the TV debate, said that he has taken this decision considering the financial and personal circumstances. However, he clarified that despite leaving BJP, he will maintain his commitment to the party's ideology and the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In an interview after resigning from the party, Poonawala said that political parties generally do not pay regular salaries to their spokespersons or workers. In such a situation, it was becoming difficult for him to meet his daily expenses. He said that he has to pay house rent and the landlord does not care which political party a person is associated with. Poonawala said that it is not necessary for workers associated with political parties to get financial help, because politics is not a job for them. According to him, when a person joins a political movement or organization, he does so because of his commitment to the ideology, person or organization. He said that even after separating from BJP, his attachment towards these three things remains.
He also clarified that he never expected BJP to bear his living expenses. He says that the job of BJP is not to provide livelihood to any worker. But in practical life, rent, household expenses and other financial responsibilities have to be fulfilled. These circumstances forced him to take this decision. Describing himself as a first generation politician, Poonawalla said that he has no political legacy or family support. He said that he is not among those leaders who gain financial benefits through politics or come from any political family. According to him, it becomes necessary for such people to manage their life and career outside politics.
He said that people often assume that every politician has a political family or a strong economic background. But the situation of new age and first generation leaders like him is different. Giving an example, he said that people have become so used to seeing leaders and their families with political legacy that they assume that the lifestyle and circumstances of every politician will be the same.
Shehzad Poonawala left Congress and joined BJP in the year 2021. After this, as the national spokesperson of the party, he continued to support BJP in TV debates and political programs. Now after his resignation, the discussion regarding this decision has intensified in political circles. However, Poonawala has clarified that the decision to separate from the party is not a change in his ideology, but is mainly to his personal and financial circumstances.
