Delhi: The first match of the three-match Test series between England and Pakistan started on Wednesday. In the match being played at Headingley, England has tightened the noose on the very first day. England bowled out Pakistan for just 171 runs. After this, by the end of the day's play, they had scored 112 runs after losing only two wickets.

Half-century partnership between Root-Cox

England had a bad start after bowling out Pakistan for 171 runs. England lost both their openers on the score of 48 runs. Ben Duckett was out after scoring 15 runs and Emilio Gay was out after scoring 33 runs. After this Joe Root and Jordan Cox took over the innings. Both have added 64 unbeaten runs so far.

Root is unbeaten on 37 runs with the help of six fours. At the same time, Cox is present at the crease after scoring 23 runs with the help of four fours. England is currently 59 runs behind Pakistan's first innings score. On the second day of the match, Root and Cox will be eyeing a big lead.

Robinson and Tong opened their claws

Before this, Josh Tongue and Ollie Robinson from England's side wiped out Pakistan. Abdullah Shafiq scored the most runs for Pakistan. Shafiq played an inning of 61 runs. Apart from this, Imam ul Haq contributed 61 runs. Robinson took five wickets for 51 runs. Whereas, Tong spent 46 runs to take 5 wickets.
