Malaysia will close airspace around Kuala Lumpur International Airport for six days from Aug. 26 to 31 to facilitate rehearsals and the National Day Flypast 2026, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).

The closures are scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon on Aug. 26-28 for rehearsals, and from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Aug. 29 and 31 for full rehearsals and the official flypast, Named reported.

Passengers traveling through the airport during these periods have been advised to check directly with their airlines for the latest flight information, as schedules could be adjusted.

The authority also warned against flying unauthorized drones in the affected areas, saying such activity could create safety risks for low-altitude aircraft and lead to enforcement action under the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport served 23.4 million international passengers in the first half of this year, up 7.8% from a year earlier, driven by expansion of new direct routes.

Spanning roughly 100 square kilometers, the airport is a key hub for both domestic and international air travel.
