The fence was put up around counter E in the departure area of Terminal 1, The Korea Herald reported citing a source from Incheon International Airport Corp.
Stickers have been added to the transparent panels to make the fence more visible and prevent passengers from accidentally walking into it.
In July, a video went viral online, showing dozens of passengers surging toward check-in counters for a China-bound flight in the third-floor departure hall of Incheon Airport’s Terminal 1, Yonhap News Agency reported.

Instead of following the designated queue, the passengers pushed luggage carts through retractable belt barriers arranged in a zigzag pattern, apparently attempting to reach the check-in counters ahead of others.
Several airport employees were reportedly injured while trying to direct passengers back into the designated queues, prompting the airport to display digital warnings that check-in services could be denied if passenger safety was threatened.
Additional security personnel were also deployed to monitor the area.
Incheon International Airport, ranked the world’s second best behind Singapore’s Changi in the 2026 Skytrax World Airport Awards, handled 38.39 million international passengers in the first half of this year, up 6.3% year-on-year.
The airport serving South Korea’s capital Seoul has seen a surge in popularity partly due to the U.S.-Iran conflict, which has prompted airlines to divert passengers from Middle Eastern hubs such as Dubai to alternative routes through Asia, Korea Times reported.
