Arvind Kejriwal Attack On Modi Government Over Sugar Price Hike: Sugar prices are skyrocketing across the country. The price of sugar has increased by Rs 19 in the last 17 days. Aam Aadmi Party i.e. AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal has targeted the Modi government after sugar became expensive by Rs 19 in 17 days. Arvind Kejriwal, while boasting, termed the Modi government as a government of illiterate people. Kejriwal said that the government is completely illiterate. These people do not understand when and what decision has to be taken.

Let us tell you that the prices of sugar are continuously increasing in the country. Sugar has become costlier by Rs 19 in just 17 days. The price of sugar in the wholesale market has reached Rs 60 per kg. Whereas the retail market price is at Rs 65 per kg. Whereas the festive season is going to start from the month of September. Sugar prices can skyrocket during the festive season.

Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal attacked the Modi government by sharing a video on social media X regarding the huge increase in sugar prices. Kejriwal wrote on social media – Modi government or illiterate government… these people were making ethanol from sugarcane to save foreign exchange. Now there is a shortage of sugar in the country and the price has increased by ₹20 in just 17 days. Now the situation has become such that the situation has come to import sugar by burning the same foreign exchange. Is this government or a joke?

He further wrote, “To save the foreign currency spent on oil import, they started making ethanol from sugarcane. As a result, there was a shortage of sugar. Now we will import sugar with that foreign currency. The government is completely illiterate. No one knows what will happen if they do what.”

Congress has also targeted the Modi government regarding the rising prices of sugar. Congress wrote on Social Media Narendra Modi is running inflation hunter on the people and making their life difficult.

Sugar became costlier by Rs 19 in 17 days

Let us tell you that on July 31, the wholesale price of sugar was Rs 44 per kg. Whereas in retail it was being sold at Rs 56 to Rs 46 per kg. Whereas on August 1, the wholesale price reached Rs 46 per kg. The retail price reached Rs 47. On August 2, the wholesale price was Rs 49 and the retail price was Rs 50. Whereas on August 20, the wholesale price increased to Rs 60 per kg and the retail price reached Rs 65 per kg. The average mill price of sugar across the country reached an all-time high of Rs 5,400-5,500 per quintal.

This was the mill price a year ago

A year ago the mill price was Rs 3,900 per quintal. This shows that there has been a huge increase on an annual basis. With the increase in mill rates, the average retail price of sugar also rose by 13 per cent to Rs 52.3 per kg on August 18 from Rs 46.34 per kg a year ago, according to Consumer Affairs Ministry data.
