Punjab Govt Provides Rs 10 Lakh Insurance Cover to PESCO Employees: Mohinder Bhagat

The Punjab Government has provided an insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh to employees working under the Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation (PESCO), Defense Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat said on Thursday.

Bhagat made the announcement while reviewing the functioning of PESCO in Chandigarh, stressing that the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government was committed to the welfare and social and economic security of ex-servicemen and their families.

The minister said the insurance cover had been provided keeping in view the safety and security of PESCO employees and assured that the government would continue to strengthen welfare and security measures for them.

During the review meeting, PESCO Managing Director Major General Harmandeep Singh briefed Bhagat on the employment opportunities being provided to ex-servicemen through the corporation. He informed the minister that more than 23,500 employees are currently serving under PESCO.

Bhagat directed officials to further improve the corporation's functioning and focus on generating maximum employment opportunities for ex-servicemen. He also instructed them to ensure that issues concerning employees and ex-servicemen are addressed on priority.

The minister reiterated the government's commitment to strengthening PESCO's role in providing employment and welfare support to the ex-servicemen community.
