There was a big movement in Delhi under the leadership of Abhijeet Deepke's Cockroach Janata Party demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in the NEET paper leak case. This movement at Jantar Mantar got a huge response from the entire country. Many Bollywood actors supported the CJP movement. Shabana Azmi, Prakash Raj, Sonakshi Sinha, Sonu Sood, Vir Das, Dia Mirza, Soha Ali Khan and other artists supported this movement. In this background, now well-known actor Suresh Oberoi has raised the issue of responsibility of celebrities.
In a podcast interview with Nidhi Vasandani, she said, “We are responsible people. The world listens to you and believes what you say. So before celebrities speak, they should research it, look into it and understand who is behind it, who is involved in it? Are they all NEET students or some politician, stone pelter or rowdy? Unless you know this, how can you talk so much about it?” Can? If I don't know about something, I won't talk about it.
Suresh Oberoi said that he has also heard some claims about the involvement of funds and foreign people in the background of the protests. “I will never go to any protest. Because my job is to act, so I will act. What is the point of being an activist? There is a way to make any demand. Which way is this? I don't like it. You want to become a star overnight, so you throw stones and become a star. You are beating the police,” he further said.
In June, the Cockroach Janata Party had launched a student agitation to protest against the NEET-UG paper leak and demand the resignation of the then education minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Social activist Sonam Wangchuk took part in the movement and sat on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Shabana Azmi and Prakash Raj went to the protest site. Sonakshi Sinha, Sonu Sood, Vir Das, Dia Mirza, Soha Ali Khan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia Deshmukh openly expressed their support.
