Tottenham Hotspur midfielder agrees to leave, says report

Tottenham have completed some major signings this summer and are now on the verge of sanctioning a notable sale.

A Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has agreed to an exit, with his departure now understood to be at an advanced stage.

That is according to a fresh report, which says the Lilywhites are beginning to speed up their outgoing business after committing well over £160 million to bring Matheus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali into the middle of the park.

With Tottenham also believed to be keen on signing both Omar Marmoush and Savinho, they may need to clear out a bit more surplus from the squad to avoid going into the new season with too many players on the books.

According to a report from Africa Foot, Galatasaray are moving closer to signing Pape Matar Sarr.

Sarr has agreed to a three-year contract after being offered what has been described as a “lucrative contract”.

The 23-year-old featured in 26 Premier League matches for Tottenham last season, but played only a little over an hour of football under De Zerbi.

The Senegal international arrived from Metz in 2022 as a highly rated young prospect and has shown flashes of quality, but with De Zerbi preferring a double-pivot system, Sarr may not rank among the first few choices in the midfield pecking order.

Fernandes and Tonali are likely to be Spurs' preferred partnership this season, while Conor Gallagher, Archie Gray and Rodrigo Bentancur are also options in central midfield.

Lucas Bergvall, another young player signed before De Zerbi's era, is another possibility, although FourFourTwo understands he could also leave.

Mohammed Kudus, James Maddison, Xavi Simons and Dejan Kulusevski are all options in the No.10 role.

Turkish outlet Takvim reported earlier this year that Fenerbahce were interested in Sarr, but they now appear to have dropped out of the race altogether.

Africa Foot says discussions between the North London club and Galatasaray over Sarr are progressing well, with the transfer now expected to go through.

According to Transfermarkt, the midfielder is valued at €14m. Tottenham begin their Premier League campaign against Brentford this weekend.
