Spurs sign Senesi, Leeds bring in Wilson: Premier League’s best bargain transfers this summer

Premier League clubs have once again spent heavily this summer, with transfer records being broken across the division.

The headline-grabbing big-money deals have taken most of the attention, but several smart pieces of business have also been completed by Premier League sides. Here are five of the best-value signings of the summer window so far, each recruited for less than £3m.

There is never any certainty when signing teenage talent, especially one making the jump from Kazakhstan to the Premier League. Even so, there is every chance that Chelsea’s £2.1m move for Dastan Satpaev will turn out to be money well spent.

The 17-year-old struck 26 goals in 58 appearances for Kairat Almaty, played in the Champions League and was named Kazakhstan Premier League Player of the Year in 2025.

He is already a star in his home country and has scored his first senior international goal, as well as producing an impressive finish against Western Sydney Wanderers during Chelsea’s pre-season tour. Chelsea have sent the teenager on loan to Burnley for the upcoming campaign so that he can gain experience.

Crystal Palace have needed to be inventive in the transfer market this summer, with their first three confirmed signings all arriving on free transfers. Oscar Mingueza appears the most exciting of those low-cost additions after joining from Celta Vigo as a free agent.

A Spain international with four caps, Mingueza is capable of playing across the backline and has contributed 15 goals and assists across the last two La Liga seasons.

Leeds United saw off competition from Premier League rivals to sign Fulham free agent Harry Wilson.

The Wales winger was in demand after the best season of his career in 2025/26, when he scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in the Premier League.

He joins a sizeable Welsh contingent in Daniel Farke’s squad, and his threat from dead-ball situations will strengthen a Leeds side that has already impressed from set-pieces.

Liverpool’s search for greater defensive depth led them to Ronald Araujo, with the Barcelona captain leaving Spain for the Premier League on a season-long loan.

The Uruguay international has gone through a difficult spell at Barcelona, but at his best he is an outstanding one-on-one defender and a major aerial presence. A full international and consistent trophy winner, he addresses Liverpool’s needs in a deal that carries very little risk.

With Cristian Romero pushing for a move away from North London, Spurs moved to sign Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth on a free transfer.

The Argentine defender’s wide passing range makes him an ideal fit for Roberto De Zerbi’s approach, while he also adds depth to the club’s centre-back options alongside Micky van de Ven, Kevin Danso and fellow new arrival Jan Paul van Hecke.
