Newcastle United have been heavily involved in player sales this summer, and that business now appears set to continue with yet another transfer.
Newcastle are preparing for another significant departure as the outflow from Tyneside shows no sign of slowing down.
In spite of bringing in some promising young talent, it has largely been a difficult summer for the Magpies, who have already lost Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes, along with manager Eddie Howe.
It now looks as though the exits are not over yet either, with Nick Pope having departed before the possible sale of another Newcastle midfielder.
SporDepor reporter Musafa Karatas has said that Besiktas have made an approach for Joe Willock.
The Istanbul club have submitted an offer worth €7 million for the midfielder, along with €5m in add-ons, which is around €8m below Newcastle's asking price.
Willock has been a target for Besiktas since July, according to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, but Newcastle have lowered their valuation by only a couple of million pounds.
The former Arsenal player first arrived on Tyneside on loan in 2020 and scored eight Premier League goals in 14 appearances during the second half of that campaign, helping the Magpies move clear of the relegation zone.
Game time has not been a major issue for the Englishman, who has made 80 appearances in all competitions across the last two years. However, with Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali ahead of him in the midfield pecking order, Willock has not quite pushed on to become a more influential figure at St James' Park.
Now 26, he may have expected a bigger role this season after two members of Newcastle's first-choice midfield from last term moved on. Even so, with the club having signed replacements in Sean Steur and Aladji Bamba, Willock could still find himself battling for a spot.
Newcastle are also likely to place their faith in Lewis Miley in midfield as a young player they see as one for the future.
This summer, Newcastle have also added players such as Amar Dedic and Bazoumana Toure, while handing Will Osula the No.10 shirt and appointing Dan Burn as club captain.
According to Transfermarkt, Willock is valued at €14m. Newcastle begin their Premier League campaign against Liverpool this weekend.
