New Delhi. Strictness has been done regarding professional registry for registered pharmacists across the country. Pharmacists will now have to update and verify their profile in the Health Professional Registry i.e. HPR. A time limit of 15 days has been fixed for this. If the process is not completed within the stipulated period, the concerned profile may be deactivated. The objective of the new rule is to create a digital record of information to pharmacists and verify their identity and registration information online.

What needs to be done to update HPR profile?

The HPR system has been launched in collaboration with the National Health Authority. Pharmacists who are already registered on Digi Pharmed portal and have valid BHP number are required to update their HPR profile. The process will start with e-KYC. In this the pharmacist will have to verify his identity information. After this, information to personal information, job, studies and registration will have to be checked. If any information in the profile is incomplete, it will have to be completed.

Can old or wrong information in the profile also increase problems?

    – While updating the profile, pharmacists must ensure that the information entered is correct and latest.
    – After completion of the process, the concerned State Pharmacy Council will check the profile.
    – After getting the approval of the council, the HPR card of the pharmacist will be made.
    – With this system, information to the identity, educational qualification, job and registration of the pharmacist can be kept in a digital record.

What changes have been made in the study of BPharma?

Pharmacy Council of India has also issued instructions regarding the 2026 syllabus of BPharm. In the new curriculum, interdisciplinary courses taught by combining different subjects have been included. In colleges where qualified pharmacy teachers are not available for any subject, the help of a qualified guest or teacher coming from outside can be taken. Such a teacher must have a postgraduate degree in the relevant subject.

How will students benefit from the new curriculum?

According to PCI, the objective of the new curriculum is to give BPharma students better knowledge of different subjects and prepare them for practical work to pharmacy. Teachers appointed from outside will also be given necessary training before teaching. In this way, on one hand, efforts are being made to strengthen the digital identity and records of pharmacists, while on the other hand, emphasis is being laid on practical and interdisciplinary studies in pharmacy education.
