The Noise-Free Nations Index, created by travel agency Go2Africa, assessed seven factors, including population density, tourist numbers, rural land, protected areas, motor vehicles, airports and railway networks, to determine which countries offer travelers the greatest escape from the noise of modern life.
Singapore achieved a quiet score of 6.78 out of 10 points.
The city-state has little rural land, with such areas covering just 30% of its total territory, making it difficult to find a quiet spot.

Tourism is a key pillar of Singapore’s economy. Singapore welcomed 16.9 million international visitors in 2025, up 2.3% from 2024, generating a record S$32.8 billion (US$25.83 billion) in tourism receipts.
The Maldives was ranked the world’s second-noisiest country, followed by Barbados. Bhutan, meanwhile, was named the world’s quietest country.
