IND vs SL, 2nd Test, Day 1: An injury-ravaged Sri Lanka seek a series-levelling win as they lock horns against India in the second and final Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. With rain ruling the roost for most of the first Test in Galle but not impacting enough to send the game spiralling into a draw, there are questions over whether Day 1 of the second game in Colombo will be affected by showers too?

IND vs SL, 2nd Test, Day 1: Will rain interrupt proceedings between Team India and Sri Lanka in Colombo?

With the match slated to begin at 10:00 AM Local time in Colombo, Accuweather states that the conditions will remain cloudy in the morning alongside 25% precipitation chances and a cloud cover of 84%. Showers are almost certain for the afternoon as the chances of precipitation are 64%, while the probability remains high in the evening too. While the captain winning the toss would want to bowl first, given it would be overcast in the morning, Day 1 of the Test is likely to be a truncated one, owing to rain.

IND vs SL, 2nd Test, Day 1: Team India aim for another win to keep their World Test Championship final chances alive

Having won the opening Test at the Galle International Stadium handsomely by 165 runs on Day 5, the tourists will be hoping for a similar result in Colombo. Keeping in mind the World Test Championship (WTC) final, India need a 2-0 win to stay alive in the race. A defeat would severely dent their chances, given their next five Tests are against New Zealand and Australia, with the series against the Kiwis in their backyard in October 2026.

Meanwhile, India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir went on to claim that he would like the series to be a minimum of three Tests instead of two in the near future. The 44-year-old stated in the presser on Saturday, as quoted by RevSportz:

The hosts, who were already without Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis for the first Test, will also miss the experienced Dinesh Chandimal in the second.
