New Delhi .The risk of diseases caused by mosquitoes increases during the rainy season. There is a possibility of increase in cases of infections like dengue and malaria between July and October. Many times the onset of dengue appears similar to that of normal viral fever, so the patient and family members ignore the initial symptoms. Complaints like high fever, headache, body ache, weakness, nausea and vomiting can be seen in dengue. However, dengue cannot be confirmed on the basis of symptoms alone and medical examination is necessary if necessary.

Dengue is spread by the bite of infected Aedes mosquito. Clear water accumulated in and around homes after rain can create a favorable environment for mosquitoes to breed. In such a situation, regular cleaning of places where water accumulates and measures to prevent mosquitoes become very important. It can be useful to cover the body to avoid mosquitoes even during the day and adopt anti-mosquito measures as per need.

Weakness and body pain can be common symptoms in a dengue patient, but if the weakness suddenly increases and the patient starts having difficulty in getting up and sitting, then one should not consider it as normal and wait at home. Excessive lethargy, restlessness, or rapidly deteriorating health may also be a signal to seek medical help.

Severe pain in the stomach along with high fever or severe pain on pressing the stomach is also a cause for concern. In severe cases of dengue, complications to fluid balance and blood circulation in the body may occur. Therefore, in case of persistent stomach pain or unusual discomfort, it is important to immediately contact a doctor.

Breathing much faster than normal or having trouble breathing is also considered a serious sign. In such a situation, it is not appropriate to continue treating the patient at home considering it to be just a normal fever. Only after medical examination can the severity of the condition and necessary treatment be decided.

Bleeding from the nose or gums, seeing blood in vomit or blood in the stool can also be serious warning signs of dengue. If any of these symptoms appear along with fever, immediate medical help should be sought. Excessive bleeding can lead to serious conditions.

Treatment of dengue usually focuses on controlling symptoms, maintaining adequate fluids in the body, and monitoring for complications. Medicines for fever or pain should be taken as per the doctor's advice. Medicines such as aspirin and ibuprofen should not be used without medical advice, as they may increase the risk of bleeding in some circumstances. In case of high fever, it is safer to consult a doctor instead of taking medicine yourself.

To prevent dengue during the rainy season, do not allow water to accumulate in and around the house, regularly clean coolers, pots, tanks and other containers and adopt measures to prevent mosquitoes. It is important to get adequate rest and fluids when a fever occurs, but it is not advisable to be limited to home care if serious warning signs appear. Timely medical advice and necessary check-ups can help prevent the condition from becoming serious.
