AI has now permeated every aspect of life. But can it not be used in schools in Bengal? Not just as an external technology; Can AI be used as a catalyst for better teaching, deeper learning and innovative thinking in students? On 22 August 2026, the 'Academy of Technology' at Adisaptagram in Hooghly became the center of one such discussion. In celebration of the institution's foundation day (AOT Foundation Day 2026) A special academic conclave was organized, named 'Academic Leadership Conclave for Future-Ready Institutions'.
School principals, teachers, educationists and industry experts attended the conclave to discuss how artificial intelligence can be used in future education in line with NEP 2020. The discussion also highlights the potential and challenges of using AI. Emphasis is also placed on the need to be a responsible citizen in using this cutting-edge technology.
Teachers and representatives from various reputed schools of North Hooghly, Kalyani and South Kolkata participated in the event. There were Hooghly Collegiate School, Binodini Girls High School, Garden High School, IISER Campus and Springdale High School. Prominent dignitaries present at the event included Professor Praveer Kumar Biswas of IIT Kharagpur, Professor Navneet Goel of BITS Pilani, Professor Soumya Sen of Calcutta University and Dr. Spectrum
Also present were Mr. Sambuddha Dev, Strategic Advisor of AOT and former Executive Vice President of Wipro Technology and Ranjan Gangopadhyay, Professor, Department of Power Engineering, Jadavpur University.
Professor Dilip Bhattacharya, former professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of IIT Kharagpur and currently Director of Academy of Technology, delivered the welcome address. AOT Chairman-Trustee Professor Anindita Banerjee outlined the future plans for technology-based education. He also highlighted the need to prepare students for future challenges and opportunities in an increasingly artificial intelligence-dependent world.
One of the major highlights of the conclave was the official launch of the 'AOT School Connect Initiative'. Through this it is planned to create opportunities for mentoring of teachers and students, exchange of knowledge and experience, joint educational programs and familiarization with new technologies.
Currently, the importance of such initiatives is increasing. The main message of the conclave was clear—AI is never a substitute for the intelligence of teachers or the general public. Rather, its intended use is to empower teachers, satisfy student curiosity, and make education more creative and future-oriented.
