Telgenkamp’s spectacular finish opened the game after a boring forty minutes. The ball eventually found its way to Tijmen Reyenga when they approached the circle from the right, but he failed to make a proper connection. Instead, it went to Telgenkamp, where the forward made sure to whip it past the Indian goalkeeper.

The Dutch extended their lead ten minutes after the first goal. The ball entered the circle in just three passes, and Hoedemaekers completed the rest with a brilliant touch and a diagonal run. India had optimism when Harmanpreet, who appeared to be battling an injury, entered the field a minute later and converted his penalty corner.
